OVAL SUGAR BOWL WITH MERCANTILE-SHIPPING SCENES Meissen, ca. 1735, the paintwork probably by C.F. Herold.
Painted with a circumferential port scene with merchants and their wares on a waterfront quay, in gold borders. The domed lid with a gilt rabbit finial, and with two similar scenes, within a border with foliage and strapwork in gold. Underglaze blue sword mark, gold number 78. on both parts.
L 12 cm.
Small chip to the rim, gilding slightly rubbed.
