OVER 180 AUTOGRAPHS BY VICTORIANS INCLUDING ANNOUNCEMENT OF LINCOLN'S DEATH (DISRAELI, BENJAMIN.) Monypenny and Buckle. The Life of Benjamin Disraeli, Earl of Beaconsfield. Interleaved with over 180 autographs by Disraeli (most Signed "B," "Beaconsfield," or "D"), members of his cabinet (including many by Stafford Northcote), or other Victorian leaders in politics and religion, assembled by Disraeli's Assistant Private Secretary John Arrow Kempe. The Disraeli autographs include 5 ALsS, 7 ANsS, one AN, and an unsigned partly-printed note accomplished in holograph. Also includes a printed letter Signed by U.S. Envoy to the UK Charles Francis Adams, announcing the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. Each autograph mounted or hinged to a blank leaf bound into one of the last four volumes. 6 volumes expanded to 8. 8vo, blue cloth with gilt titling to spine and cover, moderately worn with chipped and faded backstrips; hinges cracked, foxing and offsetting to endpapers, few autographs coming loose.
