Odessa Meteorite End Cut Iron, IAB-MG Ector County, Texas, USA - (31° 43'N, 102° 24'W) Found: 1922 Representing the rare occurrence of a meteorite associated with a crater-forming impact event, the Odessa from West Texas is popular among collectors and not that often seen on the market. This is actually an end cut showing both the exterior skin of the Iron variety and a cut and etched face with a relatively tight Widmanstätten pattern, including one larger and one smaller rare Troilite inclusion. Weighing 589.2 grams, the meteorite is quite sizable, and the display surface is rustic and complex with a dull, silvery-gray coloration and a lot of contrast over a relatively light and dark linear pattern. This Odessa is dense and heavy for its dimensions and offers a darker, patinaed, crusty exterior skin.
