Odessa Meteorite Iron, IAB-MG Odessa, Ector County Texas, USA The Odessa Iron represents one of the most famous craters in the world and one of a few crater-forming meteorites in America. Pieces are not plentiful now as collecting at the Texas site is no longer permitted. This specimen weighing a robust 540 grams and offers an incredible duality as the amazing example exhibits orangey spots over a brown coloration but also a mirror-like polished window revealing a shiny metallic contrast to its exterior. This solid 'rock' from Space displays a slight curve and deep coffee hue. Some of the original metal detecting for meteorites actually took place near the Odessa Crater back in the 1940s. Overall Measurements: 3.39 x 1.82 x 1.68 inches (8.62 x 4.63 x 4.27 cm), weighs 540 grams [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
