Officer's Button - 146th Illinois Infantry

Small-sized US infantry officer button tied to a card identifying it from the vest of 1st Lieutenant Thomas C. Miller, Company K, 146th Illinois Infantry. Miller was commissioned on 9/21/1864 and mustered out on 7/8/1865 at Camp Butler, Illinois. After it's inception, the regiment was broken into battalions and served as guards for recruits and substitutes at various points across the state.
