Ogobanya - Dogon - Mali

Ritual cup of Hogon with rider - Mali - 66 cm.

This object is called Ogo Banya and is one of the Hogon's power emblems.
He shares food with the dignitaries of his community.
The lower part shows a circular base where a horse is installed which carries the cup on its back.
The cup is decorated with geometric patterns. The lid surmounted by a rider is also decorated with the same motifs.
The whole thing is in good condition (an old clip is present on the base of the cover)
The patina is dark.
Comes from the Sangha region.
