Ohio, 1847. A chair with inverted vase splat, with inscription to underside reading "Made by Philip Drum. Bethel, Ohio, 1847. Made for Samuel Simpson". Simpson was Ulysses Grant's uncle. Illustrated in Hageman, Jane Sikes. The Furniture Makers of Cincinnati: 1790-1849. With original surface. Hageman publication included with the lot.
