About the artist: Andrei Kotska is one of the brightest representatives of the Rusyn art school.
Born in 1911 in Uzhgorod in a working class family. Young Kotska attended a Sunday drawing school in Uzhgorod, where the teachers were A. Erdeli and Y. Bokshay. In 1933 A. Kocka became a member of the Society of Fine Arts in Subcarpathian Rus. All this time the artist does not cease to work creatively. In 1933 A. Kotska organized his first solo exhibition in Uzhgorod. Great success came to A. Kotsk in 1939. after the All-Hungarian Exhibition of Fine Arts, for which he provided eight paintings. Positive feedback from critics and such well-known artists as I. Seni and A. Benkhart helped to get a scholarship to study at the Roman Academy of Fine Arts, where A. A. Kotska in 1940 - 1942. studied under the guidance of Professor F. Ferrazzi.
After returning from Italy, A. Kocka again works and lives in Subcarpathian Rus during 1942-1944. In 1945-1946. exhibitions of works by Transcarpathian artists are held in Uzhgorod, Kyiv and Moscow, where the works of A. Kotsky are widely represented.
The singer of the beauty of the women of Transcarpathia - A.Kotska was awarded high government awards. In 1971 he was awarded the title of "Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR", in 1981 - "People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR", in 1977 the artist became a member of the presidium of the management of the Society of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR and a member of the board of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Until the end of his life, A.Kotska was an active participant in exhibitions. 1981 - personal exhibition in the city of Uzhgorod, 1983 - Moscow, 1984 - Trebishove (Czechoslovakia).
The artist's style is original and recognizable, his works are distinguished by a bright, unique color.
The remarkable artist died on November 4, 1987 in Uzhgorod.
