Oil painting on canvas. All. by Andrea Locatelli (Rome

[ translate ]

Oil painting on canvas. Allegedly by Andrea Locatelli (Rome 1693-1741). Archaeologica view of the Tiber river with characters. From private collection. 56x110.

"This painter of landscapes helped to represent the Roman countryside as an expression of an ideal of pastoral life, ispiration of a new culture that spreads throughout the eighteenth century in response to the Baroque, considered over the top and of bad taste. In line with the principles developed in the academic Arcadia, it restores a balance between nature and reason, intellect and imagination (Ut Pictura Poesis-Quinto Orazio Sacco). In the painting, expression of those times, the painter shows a very unique perspective of the Tiber, it depicts a locus amoenus, a nature that is indicative of a peaceful and serene existence, out of time, aimed at stable, peaceful and quiet way of being. A still image of an idyllic view. Pictorially, the canvas assumes a balanced style, where the measured spaces are in perfect harmony with a dense matter but precise, in a perfect balance with the landscaped. All this scenic dughettiana memory surely derives from a common ductus with the artists of the time such as Paolo Anesi or Pablo Monaldi. His work is the product of a culture with precise literary and philosophical references to the Arcadians circles." STUDIO ASOR
