[ translate ]

One of the most beautiful versions of the “Ecce Homo” subject. It is pervaded with the ineffable spirit in which the image of Christ is touched by an indescribable grace. The refinement of this painting can be seen in the delicate crimson colour of the lips and in the fair tone of the skin. The painting in inspired by the early period of Guido Reni. He painted figures with a monumental effect, in high relief, with a casual use of chiaroscuro. Suggestive craquelure of the paint film, in line with the date attributed to the painting. Wood’s lamp didn’t show any relevant restoration works. The canvas has been relined and the frame, gilded and ebonized, of good workmanship and of a later period, is to be considered as complimentary as it is not in perfect condition. Canvas dimensions: 67 x 50 cm. Work from a private collection, with certificate in accordance with art. 64, Legislative Decree 22 January 2004, no 42, of the Law on Cultural Heritage and Landscape (Italy) The work will be packed with care and shipped via courier as insured parcel.
