Fine little okimono depicting a funny scene in which a peasant carrying a basket of vegetables is startled by a grasshopper that has landed on his face. Impeccable rendering of the frightened expression. Object overall in good condition as shown in the photos; signs of repair to the left foot, probably the stability of the figurine was bolstered with the application of plaster A Japanese item from the Meiji period The item was made prior to 1947, and is therefore in compliance with European Union regulations regarding the sale of ivory.
