Okimono - Bronze - Carp, Water Lilies - Incense Holder - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912)
Okimono - Bronze - Carp, Water Lilies - Incense Holder - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912) A Meiji period rare and very unusual finely detailed bronze sculpture of a carp leaping among water lilies. The base is fashioned to represent a water lily leaf. The fish has an open mouth and there is also an opening in the centre of the largest lily, which I assume were to hold incense. I can not find a signature but have included a close up photograph of the underneath of the leaf as those are perhaps marks in the centre. This will be very carefully packed and shipped via Royal Mail, tracked, signed for and insured.
