Exceptional and rare ivory okimono of elegant monobloc depicting geisha with umbrella wearing a kimono and a scarf wrapped around the face stopped by a bow on the neck, which enhances the expression of the face and eyes in blond and black horn. Walking on the high geta with a kimono blown by the wind and excellently engraved with floral motifs with the two wings that, detached from the body, move sinuously, as well as the pillow is finely engraved with wisteria flowers of pawlonia. Large obi to simulate the weaving of bamboo stopped by a floral grip. He holds an umbrella with both hands for a moment before opening it. The unusual scene and the remarkable quality of carving make this sculpture a rare example of a difficult alternative. The face is covered with a scarf, it makes us feel the low temperatures, the clothes flutter in the wind, while the woman is about to open the umbrella to shelter from the wind or rain. Ryusei engraved signature with kao in red lacquer. Extraordinary example of the high quality of the Tokyo School, able to stop the moment and communicate emotion with the expression of the face, eyes and body. 2190 g Very good condition - natural ivory cracking with plastered weather openings under the base - see photos The lot will be carefully packed and shipped within 1 or maximum 2 working days from the day of payment.
