[ translate ]

Excellent ivory okimono of superior workmanship and quality, an example of unsurpassed expressive representation as a naturalistic study referring to the family of Pekingese breed dogs. They resemble portraits almost posing for the sculptor, the eyes are made of glass tooled inside, leaving a globular space so as to make an incredibly true representation capable of conveying an emotion. Entirely sculpted from a monobloc, okimonos with more than one subject are very rare, in this case we have three, the mother with the two puppies running around her. Tooled and engraved in all its parts with the fur details created from a technique used only by the Tokyo School, it rests on its original wooden base. In very good condition - natural veining of the ivory. Dimensions including wooden base, the sculpture alone measures 6 x 17. 5 x 5. 5 cm. The lot will be carefully packed and shipped within 1 or at most 2 business days from the day of payment. The shipping price includes delivery via UPS, TNT, DHL or SDA courier (depending on destination address) with full insurance and professional packaging. Original certificate compiled by Luca Mastromauro, an expert in Japanese art, registered with Milan Chamber of Commerce (number: 2617) , which will be sent with the lot. Copy of Certificate of Antiquity compliant with the international CITES rules drawn up by the CE. S. AR Archaeometric Study Centre based in London, Milan and Rome, together with the item. The original is only available on request. This item cannot be sold to buyers outside the EU.
