Rare wood and ivory okimono depicting a child riding an ox with a rucksack on the shoulders, guiding it with an intertwined band in metal (imitating rope) , with a basket of fruits and vegetables on the side. Large single block wooden ox with ivory eyes. For a similar specimen see "Japanese decorative sculptures of the Meiji Period" Barry Davies Oriental Art. Good condition - the right horn has been restored - the left ear and horn are glued - the child's right big toe has been restored - see photo The lot will be carefully packed and shipped within 1 or at most 2 business days from the day of payment.
