Refined okimono depicting a farmer who returns tired from work, holding a hoe in his hand and a wooden charm on his back. On the front he has a basket full of aubergines. Refined details sculpted with great skill, each wood stick is perfectly finished and the basket contains polychrome aubergines It is in excellent condition, has natural veining of the work and wear consistent with age. Signed Shinsai under the base. Japanese item from the Meiji period. The Item was produced prior to 1947, and is therefore in compliance with the European Union regulations on ivory trade.
