Okimono in ivory of very beautiful quality representing a peasant going to the market; he carries on his back a hood filled with a big rabbit and various vegetables and holds in his hand a swing with a young puppy; to his belt is attached a small bag held by a pretty netsuke with a devil's head. Tiny break in the handle of the swing. Very fine sculpture certainly made by a great artist (Mitsuzumi? ) , signed under the terrace. Japan origin ca 1890. Height: 17. 5 cm.
