A late 19th Century Japanese elephant ivory okimono of a pedlar carrying a small chest, gourds and a noh mask; banging a gong to alert his customers. Very finely carved with a lot of details. Beautiful patina. Signed in green lacquer under the oval base. Japan, ca. 1890. Superb condition. See photo´s. Height: 97 mm. Weight: 109 grams. Certified after physical inspection by Dhr. Keddeman. Japanese artefact from the Meiji period: ca. 1890. This item was produced prior to 1947 and is therefore in compliance with the European Union regulations on ivory trade.
