Okimono - Elephant ivory - Raro ed eccezionale - Lo scherzo della panchina - Firmato Munehisa - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912)

[ translate ]

Large, rare group in elephant ivory with two figures playing out an entertaining scene, falling and sliding from a raised bench. The figure with the fan and shamisen who seems to be trying to hide his grin watches his friend, who is probably tipsy with a pumpkin-shaped sake container in his hand, with amazement and amusement, as he has just slid to the ground with his leg raised. So rich with perfect details, such as the fan, the shamisen, the mask hanging on the obi, the well-detailed hands and fingers, the structure of the bench to simulate wood. Signed 'Munehisa' on red lacquer. In excellent condition - filled crack along the face of the man with the fan - see photos. The lot will be carefully packaged and shipped within 1 or at most 2 business days from the day of payment. The shipping price includes delivery via UPS, TNT, DHL or SDA courier (depending on destination address) with full insurance and professional packaging. Original certificate compiled by Luca Mastromauro, an expert in Japanese art, registered with the Milan Chamber of Commerce (number: 2617) , which will be sent with the lot. Copy of Certificate of Antiquity compliant with the international CITES regulations drawn up by the CE. S. AR Archaeometric Study Centre based in London, Milan and Rome, together with the item. The original is only available upon request. This item cannot be sold to buyers outside the EU.
