Stunning silver-plated bronze cockerel, set on a wooden base. With an upright stance and the tail feathers raised to fully show off its pride, self assurance, courage and control. Excellent patina and lustre. Signature in relief 'Kiko' within a rectangle. Very good condition. Within heraldry the cockerel symbolises the bold and careful warrior, ready to bear arms, as such he is usually defined by the attribute of bravery. The cockerel also symbolises vigilance, audaciousness, victory and health. In Japan the cockerel symbolically refers to the occurrence of light; the legend says that the crowing of the cockerel, together with the song of the gods, convinced the goddess of the sun to come out of the cave where she was hiding. In Japan the cockerel is attributed with the virtue of courage. Very good condition. The lot will be carefully packed and shipped within 1 or at most 2 business days from the day of payment.
