English double-sided broadside titled The Oath taken by His Highness Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector, dated December 16, 1653. The oath text concludes with the printed name O. Cromwell, followed by additional printed text identifying Oliver Cromwell as Captain General of the Forces and Lord Protector. Accompanied by an old catalog description and handwritten provenance notation referencing Anderson Sale 1543, December 1314, 1920, and the Dr. Frank P. OBrien collection. Mounted to a larger backing sheet. The attribution to a 1653 printing should be confirmed by physical examination.

Condition: Good overall condition having normal surface wear. Antique condition with extensive age-related toning, foxing, staining and surface wear. Edge losses, small tears and irregularities are present. Old mounting strips, adhesive residue and handwritten annotations are visible. The sheet is mounted to a larger backing.
