The hour- and minute hands are normally white. The the beginning of the 1970s, the latter man's model was offered to all male employees who had worked at Omega for at least a year. Female employees were given a financial surcharge that they could use against any model of their choice, the majority opting for the Dynamic. Omega was founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt at the age of 23. The brand's reputation grew quickly and by 1895 the watches achieved a precision of 30 seconds per day. At the turn of the 19th century, Omega was making 240,000 watches per year and had 800 employees making it the largest watch manufacturer in Switzerland. Omega made its sporting debut during the Gordon Bennett International Ballooning Cup in 1917; since then Omega has been the official timekeeper of 21 Olympic Games.
