Condition Report:
MVT: running at the time of cataloging. The chronograph function is operating.
CASE: in good condition consistent with age with surface wear throughout including scratching, some dinging, light denting and scuffing throughout the case and bracelet. Retains good proportions.
DIAL: in good condition consistent with age of the piece. Some tarnishing to the hours and minutes hands, some blemishing to the subdials’ hands, with the one at 9 o’clock showing some yellow tinted staining, and debris to the chronograph hand. Cream-like patina to luminous material, with the two dots at 12 o’clock with minute spots. Some loss of luminous material of the hours hand alongside a stain.

Catalogue Note:
The reference 2915 as a whole was only in production from 1957 to 1959, and therefore there are very few surviving examples.

The present lot is from the second iteration of the first Speedmaster, which is identical to the 2915-1; in fact, the only difference is the case back number as even movement serial numbers are intertwined between the two.

The early Speedmasters all had minor variations, particularly to the bezel. Some examples feature flat 3’s on the 300, some rounded, some with serifs and others without. Some of the bezels are believed to never have had the black paint applied to the numerals.
