The OMEGA Speedmaster is best associated for its use by NASA astronauts, including on the Apollo 11Ñthe spaceflight that put mankind on the moon. The present watch is notable for featuring a movement serial number 49 digits before the movement in Neil ArmstrongÕs watch. It is quite possible this movement was assembled and sitting right next to the movement that would end up in Armstrong's watch. In fact, this very watch was featured on HODINKEE back in July 2010. Like the watch used by Armstrong, the reference number on this Speedmaster is 105.012-65.

This Speedmaster is a delightful example of a "Pre-Moon" Speedmaster, and one of the last Omega references with the highly-prized caliber 321 movement made by Lemania. Lemania is one of the most famous makers of chronograph movements, used in watches manufactured by Patek PhilIippe, Vacheron Constantin, and other iconic brands. This example also features its original "Dot over 90" (DON) bezel, also cherished by collectors.
