A large observatory chronometer from a small series of 88 pieces, which were intended for precision contests only. This chronometer is one of the few movements of this type that does not appear in the result lists Movm. No. 7049463, Cal. 60.8, Dimensions 75 mm, circa 1927, Weight 287 g, Origin Schweiz Case: Chrome-plated, glazed screwed back. Dial: Enamel. Movm.: 1/2 plate movement, Guillaume gold screw compensation balance, blued balance spring with both sides passing. The Omega chronometer 60.8 mm was intended for precision contests only. This very large caliber produced results which where hardly better than those of caliber 47.7 mm. The observatory caliber which had been constructed taking into account all known findings and experiences shows some remarkable features even without.
