Onyis Martin (1987) - Freedom Flight

[ translate ]

\Artist: Onyis Martin (1987)
Technique: Watercolour\Signature: Hand signed
Onyis Martin Born in 1987 in Kisumu, Kenya. Lives and works in Nairobi. Onyis Martin is developing a research project on the construction of cultural identity through his own reality between Nairobi and the village of Kisumu. Issues of immigration, globalisation, capitalism and religion are central to his work. In the set of works he presents at the gallery, he juxtaposes the figure of the raven and the man, comparing them and looking for ways for the raven to tell the life of the man and vice versa. How can he use the raven to tell the story of the human movements of globalization and the meaning we give to things? The crow in some cultures, symbolizes death or evil, here it symbolizes the immigrant.
