Orfèvrerie Bruno Wiskemann - serving set - Silverplate

Beautiful serveware set in silver-plated metal, made by the exclusive Belgian producer Bruno Wiskemann. The set consists of: 1 Serving dish 1 Large légumier 1 Medium-sized légumier - compotier A légumier is a dish with lid for warm vegetables, these can also be used without a lid for cold dishes, greens or fruit salad Wiskemann is the most exclusive Belgian producer of silver plated objects. Otto-Leonard Wiskemann came from a noble German family of goldsmiths and jewellers. He did an internship at Christofle at the beginning of his career. After this apprenticeship he was even able to improve the process of Christofle and he settled in Brussels in 1872. At that time, Wiskemann was the highest quality that could be found worldwide in terms of silver plated white metal. All pieces were made by hand in the workshops in Brussels (Belgium) and Zurich (Switzerland) . (You can find an extract from the catalogue of 1908 in the photos on which the studios are depicted. In addition to Galleries Innovation, the then Belgian equivalent of Harrod or Lafayette, Wiskemann also traded in their own store on Avenue Louise and in their own store in Zurich. Wiskemann received major international recognition including the 'Medaille d'argent' in 1885 at the international concours in Antwerp, the 'Diplôme d'honneur in Brussels (1897) , twice the 'Grand Prix' in his category, respectively in Liège in 1905 and Milan in 1906. Wiskemann also reached the zenith in the culinary world and at culinary contests with an array of gold medals and honorary diplomas in 1888, 1889, 1899, 1900, 1904 and 1905. The extensive list of accomplishments until 1908 can be found in the photos. The company was later continued by Otto and Albin Wiskemann and then by Bruno Wiskemann. The Wolfers family (known from Philippe Wolfers and the Wolfers Frères - purveyor to the Belgian royal family) bought a majority of the company during that period. Later, the Delheid family's companies were also added to this group. This is a piece of Belgian history and of excellent quality, comparable to: Christopher, Robbe & Berking, Ercuis, Puiforcat, Wilkens, Ercuis, etc. Shipped insured and with care in fitting (possibly double) packaging. With DPD for destinations within the European Union, Bpost for other destinations. Shipping costs apply to the mainland; Overseas regions and islands may charge a surcharge unless the destination is listed separately in the shipping list.
