Miu Miu (Italian) is an Italian haute couture women's clothing and accessories brand, wholly owned by Prada. The brand is headed by Miuccia Prada. The headquarters are located in Milan, Italy. Miu Miu was founded in 1993 by Prada. The name is borrowed from the first three letters of Miuccia's pseudonym.

About the designer.
Miuccia Prada Bianchi (born 1949) is an Italian fashion designer, the younger granddaughter of Mario Prada, who founded the company in 1913.

She inherited Prada Sp.A. from her mother in 1978 and began to promote the company in the high fashion industry.

Miuccia has a doctorate in political science and philosophy. In the same year, she met her husband and now business partner Patrizio Bertelli. In the seventies, she joined the Italian Communist Party and fought for women's rights in Milan.

In 1989 she presented her first pret-a-porter line. In 1993 she launched Miu Miu brand.

Thanks to Miucci's husband, the Prada house now has a rivalry with such a fashion giant as LVMH. The house of Prada acquired the brands of Gilles Sander, Helmut Lang, Azzedine Alaia and others.

In 1995, together with Patrizio Bertelli, they opened the Fondazione Prada centre of contemporary art and culture in Milan.
