Original Oil on Board Frantz Zephirin
Original Oil on Board Frantz Zephirin
24" x 24" original oil on board by renown Haitian artist Frantz Zephirin. Shows a group of intertwined animals and people with serpent-like bodies, above a body of water. A hand reaches out of the water on the bottom right, above the artists' signature.
From the Haitian art society: "Born in Haiti in 1968, Frantz Zephirin started painting in 1973. Though Zephirin studied under the Haitian master Antoine Obin, he soon pulled away from the stylized Cap-Haitien school. Today, his paintings are characterized by bright colors, intricate patterns, tightly compacted compositions; and human figures with animal heads, which represent his cynicism for the ruling body. Zephirin’s highly creative paintings are inspired by Haitian history, politics, the bible, and voodoo."
