The first edition of this design was published in 1957. The current print is from a recent edition, using the original woodblocks.

The measurements of the image itself (excluding the margins) are 36. 8 x 24. 8 cm.

Shiro Kasamatsu (1898-1881) studied arts under Kaburagi Kiyokata. He designed his first woodblock prints for Watanabe Shozaburo in 1919, after the publisher had seen his work at an exhibition. He designed shin-hanga prints for Watanabe for a long period, and gained fame with his romantic landscapes
and depictions of the traditional Japanese life. Between 1952 and 1960 he also created over 100 woodblock print designs for the Kyoto publisher Unsodo. Shiro Kasamatsu is generally regarded as one of the top shin-hanga woodblock print artists in Japan.

The woodblock print is in excellent condition
