Publisher : Nakajima Shyo-bisya, printed by master printer : Numabe who also prints the Yoshida prints The measurements of the image within the margin are 237 x 365 mm. The full paper size: 280 x 410 mm. Never been framed. The print is as new. In mint condition ! Kawase Hasui (川瀬 巴水1883 – 1957) was a Japanese artist. One of the most prominent print designers of the shin-hanga movement, Kawase Hasui is possibly the most renowned Japanese landscape artist of the 20th century. Kawase Hasui, a modern printmaker gave primacy to the mood of a place. Especially their persistent interest in depicting light characterizes the dreamlike atmosphere in their prints. Artists such as Kawase Hasui expressed a romantic yearning for nature, rural roots and the warm wooden architecture that was disappearing in urban Tokyo. Most of his woodblock were destroyed in a fire, the year before he died. The artist was declared a living National Treasure. You might know me by now.
