Ornate Gilt Framed Floral Reverse Painted Mirror
A mid-20th century decorative wall mirror of rectangular form. The mirror features a central glass plate decorated with a vertical floral composition depicting yellow and orange roses with green foliage. This central motif is set against a mirrored background which shows significant silvering loss. The mirror is housed within a wide, green velvet-covered slip and an outer gilt-finished frame. The frame is constructed in a Rococo revival style, featuring heavily ornate scrolling foliate openwork and a textured border. A signature is painted on the glass plate in the lower-left corner, executed in a cursive script; the legible characters read S. Laurentz, with the final characters partially obscured by the frame slip.
