Oscar Murillo was a prominent figure in the Los Angeles art scene during the 1960s and 1970s. Born in Mexico, he immigrated to the United States and settled permanently in the San Fernando Valley where he studied at San Fernando Valley State College (known today as Cal State Northridge), receiving both his Bachelors and Masters of Fine Arts. Murillo remained active in his community, teaching art and exhibiting his art in galleries in San Fernando Valley, California, and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
