Inscription: middle monogrammed: "OP", left and right dated: "25/2 68" and "27/2 68"

Condition: Good overall condition, paper minimally browned, at the back side's left margin slight traces of an old mounting.

Description: The present sheet shows a study of a head in profile and frontally from a raised view of daughter Trude. For the illustration of his figures the observation of his own children was inspiring and a good school.
Oskar Pletsch studied at the Dresden Academy of Art and was a pupil of Ludwig Richter. The influence of Richter is unmistakable in Pletsch's drawings and woodcuts. From Richter's late romanticism he finally developed his own genre painting, which concentrated especially on everyday and family motifs.
