Ostrich egg on an ancient bronze base - Bronze - Second half 19th century
A wonderful combination, consists of a large ostrich egg placed on a vintage bronze base finished with 3 lion heads. It can be dated back to the 10th century, probably made in France. The egg is 150 mm long and 115 mm in diameter. Perfectly intact except for a small hole to the base, needed to empty the egg. The ostrich egg has become a rare and valuable collector’s item; mounted on this base, undoubtedly turns into a Wunderkammer object that can be put on display on a beautiful showcase or used as an exclusive furnishing accessory.
