Otakar Nejedlý (1883 - 1957) FACTORY/MELANCHOLIC LANDSCAPE

[ translate ]

1916 a 1918
Oil on canvas
95 x 115 cm (h x w)
Signed: Lower right "Ot. Nejedlý"

From the expert opinion of PhDr. Rea Michalová Ph.D.: "The presented work "Factory / Melancholic Landscape" is an indisputable authorship, truly rare for collectors, a double-sided, two-position wartime expression ingeniously representing the work of Otakar Nejedlý, a great personality of modern Czech landscape painting, one of the best art educators we have ever had The researched, rarely double-sided painting "Factory / Melancholic Landscape" represents Nejedlý's monumental, top-notch and, in both motifs, very contemporary work from his artistically strongest and most valued period, which begins already in the early days of Slavíček's inspiration (Nejedlý's stay with A. Slavíček in Kameničky in 1904-1905). The examined canvas "Factory / Melancholic Landscape" can without hesitation be called Nejedlý's work of gallery quality, whose emotionally urgent content beautifully harmonizes with the expressively relaxed artistic form."
