Polychrome stucco relief depicting the Madonna with Child, taken from a work currently preserved in the church of Genazzano (Rome) . Subject: “Our Lady of Good Counsel” is a rare iconography of ancient origin, that became popular after a Virgin with the Baby Jesus was found in the sanctuary of Genazzano in 1467. The image soon became the object of great popular devotion. According to some widespread legends, the painting was transported by the angels from Scutari (Albania) to save it from the Turks. After the 18th century, the image and cult of Our Lady of Good Counsel spread throughout Europe. Preservation: polychromy retouched over time. Size: 65 x 52 x 7. 5 cm. Origin: central Italy. Period: late 17th century - early 18th century.
