\Artist: P. L. F. Kluyver (1816-1900)
Technique: Oil on panel\Signature: Hand signed\Dimensions: 49_64_6_cm
The Amsterdam painter Pieter Lodewijk Francisco Kluyver lived and worked in his birth place until 1848 and then moved to Amersfoort. In 1883 he returned to Amsterdam to stay there until his death. He would have had painting lessons from a certain M. de Root. Other sources mention the landscape painter George Andries Roth (1809-1887) as his teacher. Kluyver became known for his meticulously crafted panoramic landscapes. These were characterized by beautiful sunlight effects. With these panoramas he built on the long tradition of Dutch landscape painting, which had its most important exponent in Jacob van Ruisdael in the seventeenth century. Most of Kluyver's work took place in the Arnhem, Amersfoort, The Hague, Haarlem and Amsterdam areas.
