Pavel OVCHINNIKOV - ELEGANT SILVER CLOISONNE ENAMEL EGG
This is a Russian Silver-Gilt and Cloisonne Enamel Easter Egg. Each detachable half is beautifully enameled with varicolored shaded flowers and foliage on a pink ground, within geometric borders. It represents an extremely well-crafted piece made using a rare technique.
HALLMARKS: '84' Silver mark, Kokoshnik, and 'P.O'. in Cyrillic for Pavel Akimovich Ovchinnikov - famous gold and silver master - please see the information below.
CONDITION: Overall condition good, light signs of wear. For further information, please refer to the pictures.
PROVENANCE: 1. From a New York City Collector, June 11, 2007; 2. Doyle Auction, New York, USA, May 19, 2021 (the winner will receive this information); 3. Our sale of this item adds another layer of provenance (please print this page). History of sale is very IMPORTANT for serious collection.
DIMENSIONS: 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm).

HISTORY of SALES: A few years ago, Russian silver enamel eggs made using the same Cloisonne Enamel technique were sold on Live Auctioneers for $8,000, $9,000, $15,000, and $19,000 - please refer to the screenshots for details. Today, prices have significantly increased compared to those of 5-10 years ago.
WARRANTY: The buyer has 5 days to inspect items for originality, valued at up to $5,000, and 10 days for items valued at $5,000 or more. Items can be returned to the seller for a refund; please refer to the Terms for more details.
NO RESERVE: Most of the auctioned items have NO reserve price. Among the remaining items, there are reserve prices set at incredibly low levels, typically ranging from 30-40% of the low estimate price.
PAYMENT: For this particular item, please use Wire transfer, Zelle, Certified Check, or Money Order as methods of payment. You can also suggest other methods of payment. Canadian winners can make payments to a Canadian Bank in CAD via Check, Money Order, Wire Transfer, or Interac e-Transfer.

Pavel OVCHINNIKOV: Another preeminent jeweller and silversmith, Pavel Akimovich Ovchinnikov founded his Moscow firm in 1853. He was the first Russian silver maker to embrace the pan-Slavic revival style, and in 1868 nearly two de-cades before FABERGE, the firm received the title of court supplier, allowing it to incorporate the imperial double eagle in its trademark. Pavel Ovchinnikov appointed official purveyor to the future Tsar Alexander III (1865), King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy (1873), Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich (1878) and King Christian IX of Denmark (1888). Awarded the Legion d'honneur (1867) and the Order of the Iron Crown (1873).
