P. Terenzio Afro - Comoediae Ex vetustissimis libris & versuum ratione a Gabriele Faerno emendatae - 1572

16mo, 16 x 10 cm, pp. [24] + 318 + [2] , blank eighteenth-century parchment binding, bookplate on the front endpapers, typographic brand on the cover page and at the end, illustrated drop caps, 2 dedicatory letters to Cardinal Borromeo, from Pietro Vettori and Cardinal Silvio Antoniano, errata at the end. After the cover page there are 2 plates several times folded, portrait of Pietro Vettori and coins dedicated to the same Vettori. Both cover and interior in good condition, only the cover page is a little darkened and with traces of old restoration (see photos) . Important edition of the Comedies of Terenzio, "giuntina", after the first one of 1565, containing only the text of the comedies without the comment of Gabriele Ferno (like the copies listed in opac. sbn "P. Terentii Comoediae", 64/150) . Unique copy of a rare edition, reworked with the 18th-century addition of the two beautiful anonymous plates, from the 1585 edition of the works of Pietro Vettori, who here is instead listed as curator.
