MATERNITÉ

dated 15.11.49. (lower left)
painted and glazed ceramic; plaque
32.7 by 24.3cm, 12¾ by 9½in.
Executed on 15th November 1949, this work is unique.

Claude Picasso has confirmed the authenticity of this work.

Condition Report:
This work is in good condition. The ceramic is sound. A crack runs horizontally through the center of the ceramic with some associated losses. This crack appears inherent to the firing process and has been repaired on the reverse. There is a fine layer of surface dirt, a chip to the lower left corner. There is a large chip to the right edge of the reverse which is possibly inherent to the plaque.

Provenance:
Estate of the artist

Marina Picasso (the artist’s granddaughter; acquired from the above)
