喜仁龍是西方近代漢學研究的先行者。在書畫方面最早涉獵。他的《中國繪畫》也是藏家必備的架上書。白威廉又名巴爾，中德混血兒，清末在上海經商，是英國皇家亞洲社派駐華北的秘書長。喜仁龍爲他撰寫的這本圖錄以手工紙印刷，毛邊，深棕封皮襯燙金書口，36幀插圖剪貼精裝，限量700本，本書為第354號。

Early Chinese Painting in good stable condition: tops gilts, edges uncut. Some bumping and marks to the original gilt cloth. Few pages with very minor spotting. Chinese Painting each in near fine condition, housed in original slipcases showing some bumping and marking. Bindings and original cloth intact. Some staining (as shown in additional photos).
