PAIR FRENCH percussion .64 BRASS BARREL PISTOLS
Fine matched pair of late 18th century French percussion Officer's pistols. Originally flintlocks, these were arsenal converted to percussion in the mid 19th century. The pistols feature 6 1/8" octagon 64 caliber barrels that are slightly tapered at the muzzles. The lockplates are also brass and have matching makers marks. The trigger guard, ramrod thimbles, and butt cap are silver plated and engraved. The butt and left side of the stock have fine inlaid silver wire. The full length stocks are checkered at the grip and carved along the ramrod channels. The forestock of one pistol has a crack repair and there is a wood sliver missing from either side of stock. The stock on the other pistol is nice. The action works well on both pistols. A very rare pair of ornate Officer's pistols. Antique, Very Good-Excellent
