[ translate ]

PROPERTY FROM THE ESTATE OF JHR. IR. G.C. (GIJS) SIX VAN WIMMENUM (1892-1975)

NETHERLANDISH, FIRST HALF 18TH CENTURY
PAIR OF ALLEGORIES OF SPRING AND AUTUMN (FLORA AND CERES)

marble
Ceres: 150cm., 59⅛in.
Flora: 152cm., 59¾in.

Condition Report:
The marbles have historically stood outside, and as such there is wear to the surface throughout, including weathering. There is staining and lichen to the surface throughout. There are only minor losses, including to the thumb on Flora's proper right hand, to the edges of the flowers in her hand and to the edges of the flowers on her crown, and to some of the edges of Ceres' wheat crown. There are a few chips and abrasions to the underside of both bases. There is some veining to the marble, consistent with the material, including a slightly open but stable vein to Flora's proper right hand. Otherwise the condition of both marbles is stable.
