明琺华彩桶一对 PAIR OF MING PERIOD FAHUA-STYLE BARRELS

A pair of Ming period 'fahua style' barrels, with Buddhist lion mask handles moulded on both sides, comes with brass stands. Barrels were originally as garden stools, the high pierced ormolu finial on flat top and detachable footed base were later add ons. Barrel decorated in three registers of deep blue and turquoise, and bands of turquoise bosses in high relief between central register. Top register decorated with six sprays of lotus flowers, central section with a classic lotus scroll with four blooms, and bottom register with wave like motifs. One of the handles was restored.
明代“琺华彩”桶一对，两侧饰佛狮首耳，附黄铜底座。桶最初是凳子，平顶锥形黄铜旋钮和黄铜底座是后添加的。桶饰有深蓝色和绿松石色的三部分，中央部之间有浮雕绿松釉钮。上部饰六朵莲花，中部绘缠里莲花纹，下部类似波花纹, 一耳曾修复 (2)
