PAIR OF PERCUSSION PISTOLS

German, ca. 1850. C. Guntermann, Düsseldorf.
Round barrels, etched Damascus steel (L 17.5 cm), mark "C.GUNTERMANN IN DÜSSELDORF" struck into brass, Cal. 13 mm, rifled, fixed rear sight, front sight of nickel-silver. Front chain locks, flat lock plates and cocks, piston safeties. Smooth nickel-silver mounts, grip caps numbered N 1 and N 2, trigger guard, two ramrod sleeves. Walnut stocks, wooden ramrods with horn tip.
L 30.6 cm.

A rare pair of pistols by the Düsseldorf gunsmith C. Guntermann, carefully-crafted and well-preserved weapons. Cf. Eugène Heer: Der Neue Støckel, Schwäbisch Hall 1968, Vol. I, p. 473, only very little is known about Guntermann.
