PALANKIN - Iron (wrought), Wood (Teak) - India - Late 19th century - early 20th century

Ancient teak wood palanquin (Palki) , INDIA. Dating from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. Entirely removable, the palanquin is typical of the areas of Northern and Central India and Pakistan, it was probably used to transport a Hindu deity during festivals, it has peculiarities in both carving and shape, the transport poles are finely carved and with good color preservation, the cradle has lost some of the original color, the legs are well carved. The object was purchased in India about 60 years ago.
