PARR LESLIE ALFRED: (1914-1986) British fighter pilot of World War II who participated in the Battle of Britain. D.S., Leslie A. Parr, Sgt, and a second time L Parr, Sgt., two pages, 4to, n.p. (RAF Pembrey, Carmarthenshire, South Wales), 2nd January 1941. The partially printed document, completed in Parr´s hand, is a Combat Report (Form "F", marked Secret) providing details of the pilot's aerial engagement with a Junkers 88 over Pembroke Dock whilst serving with 79 Squadron, the General Report stating, in part, ´Blue section ordered to patrol Linney Head.....& then ordered to Strumbles Head. Bandit reported going NE & Section ordered to Cardigan, subsequently ordered back to Linney as bandit reported 5 miles W of Linney. At 13.35 I sighted a Ju.88 at 17000 ft over Pembroke Dock flying due East and immediately turned in for head on attack. When I got within range I broke away to Starboard as there was some doubt as to a/c´s identity & then saw Black Crosses on dark green camouflage and a white F in front of the cross. I did a steep climbing [up to] the sun and positioned myself for a quarter attack. The top rear gunner opened fire with cannon and closing to 200 yds I gave him a five second burst which was clearly seen to enter the cockpit.....The enemy turned South out to sea and commenced to dive & I followed to deliver an astern attack giving 3 secs. bursts until ammunition expended. I finally broke away about 9000 ft and the Std. engine was belching black smoke. I ordered Blue 2 to continue the attack while I kept station above.......a/c was finally seen still going down with both engines pouring black smoke under a cloud bank 10 miles W of Lundy Island. No evasive action was taken during the engagement´. Signed at the foot of the first page and again at the conclusion of the General Report. One file hole to the upper left corner, and with some very light, minimal age wear, VG
