ROSE GOLD PATEK PHILIPPE CHRONOGRAPH REF. 130, SOLD IN 1946

Three-body tonneau 18K rose gold case, signed, n. 640766, concave bezel and lugs, snap on caseback. Patek Philippe leather strap and gold buckle.
Copper coloured dial with patina, signed, applied gold circular indexes and Roman numerals, minute track and 1/5th of second fractions, tachymetric graduation up to 1000 units, engine turned subsidiary dials for seconds and 30-min register. Gold bâton hands.
Manual-winding movement, rhodium-plated 13-130 caliber, signed, n. 863608, 23 jewels, côtes de Genève, column wheel system, lever escapement, cut compensated bimetallic balance with screws with eight regulations, blued Breguet hairspring, micrometer regulator.
Fitted with Patek Philippe box, outer box, Extract from the Archives.
Diameter Ø: 33 mm
Note: working.

Produced for three decades, from 1936 to 1964, reference 130 represents the vintage Patek Philippe chronograph par excellence. Together with its twin reference 533, which differs only in that it has a flat rather than concave bezel, it strengthened the archetype of the chronograph with Calatrava lines, elegant and timeless.
The cases, made by the famous case maker Emile Vichet primarily in yellow gold, were produced in rose gold, steel and steel-gold as well, but in much more limited quantities.
The dials were also the subject of great experimentation, with different designs, indexes and measurement scales. The caliber 13-130 represents an icon in the history of the Genevan Maison, having been in production for almost 50 years.
The watch proposed in this catalogue, preserved in exceptional condition, is one of the most sought-after configurations by collectors: the rose gold case displays full proportions and deep hallmarks, while the dial, with its beautiful copper patina, features crisp and raised hard enamel writings.
