PATEK PHILIPPE CUBITUS PERPETUAL CALENDAR SKELETON – 5840P-001
One of Patek Philippe's major new releases for 2016 and a particularly significant piece within the young Cubitus collection. Reference 5840P-001 is the first Grand Complication in the Cubitus collection, combining for the first time in this family a perpetual calendar with a fully skeletonized architecture.
Its imposing platinum case features the collection's characteristic square geometry with rounded edges, measuring 45 mm diagonally and just 10 mm thick. As a distinctive detail of Patek Philippe platinum pieces, it incorporates a discreet baguette-cut diamond at 6 o'clock.
The spectacular skeletonized sunburst blue dial is formed by thin, horizontal, laser-cut layers, revealing the movement's architecture. The hour markers and hands are made of white gold with a luminescent coating, while the various subdials display the indications of the sophisticated perpetual calendar. The representation of the Moon is particularly striking, metallic and laser-engraved for a high-definition effect.
Inside is the new automatic caliber 28-28 Q SQU, developed with a square architecture specifically adapted to the geometry of the Cubitus.
This skeletonized movement comprises 313 components and 27 jewels and incorporates a rhodium-plated, 22-karat gold, off-center micro-rotor visible through the sapphire crystal case back.
The perpetual calendar displays day, date, month, leap year, 24-hour time, and moon phases, in addition to hours and minutes. Its power reserve reaches a maximum of 48 hours, and the movement features a Gyromax® balance wheel, Spiromax® hairspring, and the Patek Philippe Seal.
